This week we stuck with Netflix. We watched a limited Australian series and a doc about a Latinx icon. Then we finished up a classic British comedy series.
It’s not so different DownUnder
Stateless is an Australian import based on the true story of schizophrenic/bipolar Australian women, who was lured into a cult and eventually winds up in an immigrant detention camp. It stars Handmaids Tale Yvonne Strahovski, Cate Blanchett (Mrs. America), and Dominic West (The Wire, The Affair.) Set in the Baxter Detention Camp in Australia, it mirrors the mental health issues and a broken immigration system similar to the United States.
Then, we totally switched gears …
Mucho Mucho Amor, The Legend of Walter Mercado, is the story of Walter Mercado, a Spanish language TV psychic. Over a decade ago, Mercado disappeared. In this sad, poignant, and sometimes hilarious, feel-good doc, we find out what happened to Mercado and why he holds such a dear spot in the hearts of Latinx millennials.
Finally, finished Extras!
Whether you’ve never seen it before or watched it 15 years ago on HBO, it’s time to check out Extras on Netflix. Here are a few of our favorite moments.
Perry Mason just keeps getting better
Big cliffhanger this week. We can’t wait for Sunday!
You asked. We answered.
Some of you have been asking us how we stream our TV. Short answer: Firestick.
We cut the cord 5+ years ago. Early on, when we still had cable, we were using Roku, which is also a great product because several of the shows we worked were streaming there. But, like most of you, we have an Amazon account, and Firestick works seamlessly with Amazon. It links your Prime Video and even allows you to ask Alexa to play any movie or TV show by simply using your voice when you lose your remote control! There are lots of other reasons we prefer Firestick. If there’s anything we didn’t cover in this episode, reach out of social media, and we’ll talk about it next time.
